Review:
We'll this is the prequel to the first two, & the origins story of Lucian who is the villain in the original. It shows the back story to how he became the leader of Lycans & to start the war the begins the whole franchise. I will be honest that I personally liked this one the best out of all 4, although it may not be the actual best one of the bunch. I really enjoyed the fact that it was a different story, set in an earlier time without all of the modern story added in. It may not be the most original story in the sense that we have seen films that feature an uprising against oppression & the scorn lover vowing revenge. Even though it may not be original it is still something the really draws in audiences. The acting in this is much different than the first two but only because it was different actors. They obviously couldn't use Kate Beckinsale because she wasn't Sonja who they had already alluded to in the first films, however they hired a woman who looked almost exactly like her & she acts exactly the same as Beckinsale. Rhona Mitra isn't remotely as good of an actress as Kate. Michael Sheen is great thought to make up for it. He is so powerful & over the top in his role showing his anger & passion for his love of Sonja. Bill Nighy is back as Viktor in a full length role which again is just as awesome as in #1. The Lycans look just slightly silly in this because they are a lot more CGI than they are guys in costumes. But then again the director was a visual effects supervisor previous to his work as the director on this film. Overall loved the story, didn't love the acting of Mitra but overall it was still my favourite Underworld film. You also get a completely silly sex scene involving Mitra riding cowgirl while Sheen is laying with his top half over the edge of a cliff. Just crazy & hilarious.
