Review:
So this one continues almost immediately after the first one with Matt being captured at the end of the first film because he was infected by the "T-Virus" & Alice wakes up in the hospital, alone, weak & disoriented. As she stumbles out into the world she discovers that the T-Virus has risen up into Raccoon City & infected it inhabitants. This is the beginning of the franchise taking a turn for the worse. You do however meet the rest of the cast that you will be following for the next film as well. Oded Fehr of "The Mummy" franchise fame & Mike Epps of... we'll black comedies fame join the cast as well as super hot super babe Sienna Guillory as Detective Jill Valentine. The story follows Alice as she attempts to find Matt & is joined up with the group of survivors who are told to help find a lost girl of a doctor outside of the city who has the cure to the virus & can get them all out of the city alive. So the plot for this one isn't that bad, not as bad as it could have been. The CGI is a lot better than the first. Once Alice discovers what has become of Matt, he has mutated into a giant indestructible monster called "Nemesis" who the umbrella corporation is using to kill off all the remaining military personnel hold up in the city. They have mutated him to become a super soldier who only will obey their orders. We it is at this point that you also discover that Alice was also an Umbrella experiment who they have been keeping under their supervision & this eventually leads to the battle between Nemesis & Alice to see who has "Developed" better or more effectively. Nemesis is a guy in a suit, not CGI so it depends how you look at it whether or not it's horrible or better than bad CGI. I look at it as, it's movements are slow & sloppy, it obviously can't run or move fast so to imply that it could stand hand to hand with a 90lbs. woman who is incredibly fast seems silly. Overall it could have been much worse for a sequel directed by a man who's only claim to fame before directing this film was that he was the lead camera man on Gladiator. The end of this film has Nemesis dead, Alice captured & being examined, then she escapes, has become super powerful & developed her Telekinetic powers. Starting to get stupid.
