Review:
Well. This is the definition of a ROM-COM, but I'm even going to throw in there that it is a ROM-COM-DRAM. Not quite what I was thinking it was nor what I expected it to be. When you have a Steve Carell film, you sort of have an idea in your head what you might be seeing. You get his panic & frustrated mannerisms, but in a very toned down sense because through this you really do see Steve's acting ability throughout the film. Not his first dramatic role, but could be his best. The film goes through so many different mood changes & emotions which really do keep you interested throughout. I'm not really a big fan of Keira Knightly, but she is tolerable in this film. Supporting cast is loaded full of top level comedians, as per most comedic films. The best of which is a great role from Mr. CSI (or I guess Mr. Original CSI) William Petersen, absolutely hilarious & out of normal character performance from him. Patton Oswalt is fucking outstanding even though its nothing more than a cameo. The list of cameo appearances also includes Rob Huebel & Rob Corddry who are easily two of my favourite comedic supporting actors. Although I guess Corddry is sometimes a leading actor. And of course my favourite goofy, loud mouthed, pot head comedian "DENVER YEAH!!!!" T.J. Miller pretty much playing himself. Overall it was hilarious but also a cry fest, good date movie, below average comedy if you compare it to other ROM-COM's.
