Review:
I think that when everyone saw this film, they were thinking that it was a major chick flick. Sure it has some major aspects of one, but it's not entirely that film. There is quite a lot of action brought to the table, especially because Director McG has a back ground in action films (even if they generally suck) *cough, Charlies Angels 1 & 2, cough*. Now the acting is what you would expect from a ROM-COM, just throw in a little bit of action & that is what you get. Now set aside the fact that I have what's know as a "man crush" on both Chris Pine & Tom Hardy possibly because they have both been in Star Trek movies. (Pine as Captain Kirk in the J.J. Abrahms Star Trek reboot & Tom Hardy as the clone of Captain Jean-Luc Picard's DNA, Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemesis) & I'm a huge Trekkie. I don't know why but a lot of people don't like Reese Witherspoon, nor find her attractive at all. I am on the other side of this argument. I have always found her super cute & attractive. She is actually funny so get off her. Then you have Chelsea Handler. UGH. Her attempts at being funny are just to be as vulgar as possible & attempt to be funny. I hate her. The B plot of the story isn't bad at all, but does seem a little weird for the fact that this is ideally or at least an attempt at a ROM-COM, but hey it does work. As far as the action goes, it features something I am personally completely over as far as action stunts go. Yeah sure maybe it looks cool & for the first 100 films you see it in it's super cool. But I'm fairly certain that I'm done with the falling off of or out of a building onto the roof of a car. Like I said, it WAS cool at one point but now it is so over done. The action sequences are good, the comedy is decent, the acting is OK. Overall I think people should at least give it a shot. Pretty decent date movie. In the extended director's cut you get a cameo appearance by "Champ Kind" himself, David Koechner as Tom Hardy's fake DAD hired by Chris Pine & he does a British Accent, pretty damn funny. Also small role but Abigail Spencer is such a super hot babe.
