Review:
A cold war spy drama. So you know what that means. A movie loaded full of dialogue with a very slow moving pace, constantly introducing characters, scenarios & new plot twist throughout the entire film. This one also features a large amount of flash backs throughout which sometimes can make the story a little hard to follow. If you run down this cast of actors you can obviously see that this movie has an outstanding amount of talented UK actors. Some of the best around. The acting isn't the thing that holds this movie back, it's the incredibly slow pace, lack of action & at times hard storyline to follow. It is actually well written but when you think about the fact that your sitting there watching old men talk it is hard to get behind. The last thirty minutes was significantly better than the first hour thirty. In summary, incredible acting, boring ass movie. Honestly can't understand why Gary Oldman was nominated for an Academy Awards because he has zero lines in the first quarter of the movie, and then maybe 15 lines of dialogue in the middle. But obviously they were judging it off the last thirty & his reactionary movements throughout. There was a little bit of gore in some of the torture & killing scenes but not tons. Also a few penis' which was....unexpected & uncalled for.
