Synopsis:
Josh Kovaks has managed one of the
most luxurious and well-secured residences in New York City for more
than a decade. In the swankiest unit atop Josh's building, Wall Street
titan Arthur Shaw is under house arrest after being caught stealing two
billion from his investors. The hardest hit among those he defrauded?
The tower staffers whose pensions he was entrusted to manage. With only
days before Arthur gets away with the perfect crime, Josh's crew turns
to petty crook Slide to plan the nearly impossible...to steal what they
are sure is hidden in Arthur's guarded condo. Though amateurs, these
rookie thieves know the building better than anyone. Turns out they've
been casing the place for years, they just didn't know it.
Review:
A non-original plot with a very wide spread cast of actors. However by far none of their best works. Ben Stiller is slightly toned down from his usual roles, but it's still the same old building to the big freak out Ben Stiller movie. Eddie Murphy finally returns to a role that involves him swearing & not being all sweet & PG. It was very refreshing to see him return to that type of role. Matthew Broderick was in a smaller role, but was quite entertaining, but again he was what he always is in his adult years roles. Slightly paranoid, has a phobia of something & it's a hero. Michael Pena was great & I feel very overlooked for his comedic ability. Alan Alda now deep into his 70's, still has that intangible to make you laugh at the smallest of facial expression or little quip. Al thought the movie was enjoyable, not nearly enough laughs to classify it as a comedy, had a slightly more dramatic feel (although it was also NOT a drama). Plot reminded me a lot of Night At The Museum, but again less funny. Overall just an average comedy & a lackluster Oceans 11 plot.
