Review:
Pretty much your most typical cop drama. Could not take Channing Tatum seriously as a cop, especially since it was a very serious role. Very bland, at times silly & not really convincing as a man torn apart by his past & being forced to deal with it again through dire circumstances. Ray Liotta was playing the same bitter old man dirty cop that he has been playing for 20 years. It's sad that this is what Al Pacino's career has become. Doing nothing more than what could be stated as a cameo appearance in the first 20 minutes & the climax scene at the end of the film. I will make a bold statement & say that the best part of this film was Tracy Morgan, for the first time in his career playing a dramatic role with no comedic relief mixed in. Does a good job, not super convincing, but considering how ridiculous his career has been & how much of a crazy asshole he is, it's quite the change. He has great conviction in his interactions with Tatum's character & is integral part to the films final scenes. The kids playing young Tatum &
Morgan were actually pretty well cast. Jake Cherry (Night At The Museum 1
& 2) was good & Brian Gilbert was even better as young Morgan It was very predictable & at times very slow with not a whole lot of plot & what plot it had was poorly written.
