Review:
Hmm.... it seems as though even with my claims that I don't really like Daniel Craig as an actor, It looks like I watch a lot of his movies. Guess I not so secretly like his films? OK so here we go, & I know what your thinking, this movie, although full of incredible special effects & explosions is a weird concept that doesn't appeal to everyone. We'll sure it may have an interesting twist, however in the world of movies, why do Aliens only invade in current or futuristic times? Why not the past? In the history of film dating back to the early days, nothing has been a bigger draw than westerns. So here you go, you combine two things that are huge draws, Cowboys & Aliens. I really loved this concept because since it was the 1800's, you don't have any form of modern technology or weaponry. Not to mention the fact that everything that is happening to the characters is completely new & unbelievable to them. The CGI & special effects are really we'll done, including the space ship & all the underground workings around it. The aliens themselves are not overly original, they kind of remind me of the one in Men In Black 2. Daniel Craig is average at best. Not quite as bad as Dream House, but still not great. Harrison Ford is solid as usual, even if you can sort of tell his attitude towards this film might be a little bit on the grumpy old man looking for a paycheck? Olivia Wilde is such a babe in everything! Including this! So super sexy! Paul Dano does a really good job of being an annoying, pain in the ass that you will absolutely hate, or I suppose love to hate? It's really your call. Great plot & storyline. Nothing bad to say about it. It's actually quite well written. I did however read that at one point during pre-production that the writers & Favreau were concerned about Ford wearing a cowboy hat in the film because they didn't want people to associate him with Indiana Jones... really? I'm pretty sure people are going to associate Harrison Ford with Indiana Jones because he's FUCKING HARRISON FORD!!! Nice one dummies! Although he does end up wearing a cowboy hat, they made sure it looked nothing at all like the Indiana hat... just silly. Overall it was a good action film. Don't know why people shit all over it. Oh also has great character actors like Clancy Brown, Walton Goggins & Sam Rockwell is really awesome in it.
