Synopsis:
Oskar is convinced that his father, who died in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, has left a final message for him hidden somewhere in the city. Feeling disconnected from his grieving mother and driven by a relentlessly active mind that refuses to believe in things that can't be observed, Oskar begins searching New York City for the lock that fits a mysterious key he found in his father's closet. His journey through the five boroughs takes him beyond his own loss to a greater understanding of the observable world around him.

Review:
Should have been called "Extremely Annoying & Incredibly Autistic". I'm pretty sure that the kid is autistic because of all the things that make him annoyingly loud & whiny. Good parenting mom & dad, your son can't handle interactions with people, has rage fits when things are too loud & has OCD. Way to not get him tested ever. Does he also give anyone else a creepy "Macauley Culkin vibe?. That being, in 10-15 years he's going to be really sketchy, possibly a child molester or come out about being child molested? or is that just me? It was really not the movie I expected it to be. I in general love Tom Hanks, he's great, great comedian, great dramatic actor. But labeling him as a star of this is silly, he's nothing more than a slightly elongated cameo that does nothing for me. The rest of the acting isn't very good either. Sandra Bullock is a bust, really not her best role. The little kid is annoying as shit, not very convincing & boring. Max von Sydow was the best part, he did receive an Oscar nod for "Best Supporting Actor". His role is quite different & does a good job of making the kid slightly less annoying. As soon as you found out that he doesn't talk I knew immediately what his back story was. I was actually quite surprised that he was still alive. I hadn't seen him in anything in a little while. The movie really wasn't what I expected, it was really hard to finish & stay paying attention to it. The plot was really all over the place at the beginning but did get a little bit easier to follow once it slowed down about half way in. All of the interactions between the kid & his mom were boring, uninteresting & didn't bring out any emotions in me what so ever. The traveling around New York searching for "Black" was slow moving, with characters that had nothing to do with anything. Boring. Slow. Moving On.
