Synopsis:
Tripp Kennedy ambles into a bank
near closing time, just as two different gangs unwittingly converge to
rob it. A shoot-out erupts, and Tripp tackles the smart, pretty teller,
Kaitlin, to protect her. The gangs--one clearly made up of pros and the
other a couple of buffoons--have deadlocked themselves in a Mexican
standoff. The bank's security system starts the end-of-day lockdown and
seals everyone into the building. As the night evolves, a hilarious
game of cat and mouse ensues as Tripp and Kaitlin try to save the day,
escape being killed, and avoid falling in love...almost.
Review:
Well, to be completely honest there was nothing special about this movie AT ALL. It was your below average comedy bank job genre film. The acting was incredibly average with a few standouts. First Patrick Dempsey was very clever, funny & stole the show as Tripp, the OCD & neurotic genius who is attempting to solve the mystery in his own crazy & paranoid way. He was incredibly funny & had some slapstick comedy mixed in. Maybe slightly on the overly silly side. The other was the combo of Tim Blake Nelson & Taylor Pruitt Vince. Teamed up as the crime duo "Peanut Butter & Jelly" who are two lower level criminals attempting to rob the ATM machines inside the bank even though they have a combined IQ of 70. They are both incredibly character actors who I enjoy all of their work. I personally feel like Tim Blake Nelson is one of the best comedic character actors of the last 20 years. Taylor Pruitt Vince I will always remember from his roles in Constantine & as Malcolm Rivers in Identity. Both very underrated actors. But outside of that, the rest of the cast didn't do much for me. As much as I hate to say it Rob Huebel who is a very hilarious man, has a small role with limited lines, maybe if he had a slightly larger role it would have been a more memorable role, but because it was so small it didn't do anything for me. Again overall it was an average film, some laughs, not tons but some. Action wasn't anything special, not really any plot twists or anything surprising.
