In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Snow White is the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman dispatched to kill her.

Review:
I'm incredibly disappointed that they were able to make Kristen Stewart attractive to me in this film because I had what I deemed to be a great opening line for this review. Sadly it cannot be used. On the whole, I generally don't find either Kristen Stewart nor Charlize Theron attractive. I think Stewart is gross & uptight & Charlize Theron was ruined for me when she did "Monster". Yet somehow they made both of them seem somewhat acceptable to me. I was also pleasantly surprised with Stewart's acting ability in this role because in everything I've seen her in since she became a main stay lead actress (everything after Panic Room), she has the same blank, lifeless face in everything with her whole stupid bite the lip bullshit & not giving a crap attitude. (She does in fact do the lip bite though). Yet she was able to show all different variety of emotions, including happy which you don't see from her much because she is such an unpleasant cow. Theron has always been a very accomplished actress, just wish she hadn't done Monster so I could still find her attractive all the time. Chris Hemsworth is probably the busiest young actor in the world. Seems like he's in everything now. Which is actually really awesome because he is a good actor & is kinda the ultimate dude. Here's one thing I never understood about films of this genre. It's set in a mythological land that doesn't really exist right? So why do they all have to have British accents? And badly done ones at that. Neither Stewart nor Theron could do a good one to save their lives. Was also not a fan of the subtle religious undertones that were mixed in. If you didn't notice them, you weren't looking hard enough. At one point Snow is in the tower & she says a prayer under her breath.... Uhhh same as the British accent thing, it's not based on history... so why do we need religion? Anyways enough of that business. This brings me to the graphics & CGI. Really well done. You have interactions with animals, ferries & mythological creatures. All really well done, didn't look silly or cheap. But then we bring ourselves to the Dwarfs. For a movie that was trying to take the story away from the Disney version of silly Dwarfs & singing & dancing, they sure cancelled out all of the serious acting & story telling in the first half by having the dwarfs act like stupid children that even evolves a poop joke. It saddens me to say this thought because of the incredible actors playing the Dwarfs. If I could pick from any list of character actors I would say 4 of the Dwarfs would be on it. Ian McShane is so mysterious & awesome in anything he does. Nick Frost brings comedic timing to every role he has & is one of my favourite comedic character actors of all time. Eddie Marsan & Toby Jones round it out with some great back & forth banter. Then you have the best actor as a Dwarf, but who has the stupidest character of them all. Poor Ray Winstone. A man who can do anything from serious dramatic roles, to action films to comedy. But here he is as the dwarf making the poop joke.... Poor Ray. Also too they weren't quite as well done as John-Rhys Davies in LOTR, where they have a body double for wide shots & then have all the other actors on platforms for close ups. They hired real "Little People" to play the physical part & then CGI'd the actors faces on to the bodies at all times. The mirror, mirror on the wall was very cool, not just a person's face on a mirror on the wall but a real magical being. Super cool. Overall it was very visually appeasing with tons of great characters, costumes, backdrop, pretty much everything you look for in a film. It's a great version of an over told story, brings to light the story of Snow White as a warrior princess as opposed to a dainty little girl. Gives off a strong Joan Of Arc vibe. Does run maybe just a little bit long.
